On June 30, the U.S.-Israel Defense Policy Advisory Group (DPAG) convened in Israel to discuss the strategic alliance between the United States and Israel. Co-chaired by Under Secretary of Defense for Policy John Rood and Israeli Defense Ministry Director of Policy and Political-Military Affairs Zohar Palti, the panel discussed a wide range of topics including regional security challenges, missile defense policy and military cooperation.

For the past two decades, DPAG has been the primary forum for senior Department of Defense and Israeli Ministry of Defense personnel to advance the U.S.-Israeli defense relationship through bilateral dialogue.

“The U.S. defense partnership with Israel is ironclad, and cooperation between the two militaries will remain extraordinarily robust at all levels,” Rood said. “Today's dialogue was extremely productive and I look forward to continue our great work with Israel's defense leadership.”

Rood also conducted meetings with other senior Israeli officials, including the director general of the Ministry of Defense, the national security advisor, and the chief of defense.
